Community Resources Available for Families

Ferndale Families,
As we move into the winter months, we know this season can bring added challenges for some families, especially as seasonal work slows down and SNAP benefits change. We want to make sure every Ferndale family knows about the many local resources available for food, housing, and essential needs.
Free School Meals
Every student in the Ferndale School District can enjoy a free, nutritious breakfast at school each day. No additional forms or eligibility required. You can view your school menus at this link: FSD School Menus
Food and Meal Resources
If you or someone you know could use food assistance, here are some local options:
· Ferndale and Bellingham Food Banks- Provide food boxes weekly, and in some cases, delivery can be arranged. Visit ferndalefoodbank.org or bellinghamfoodbank.org for hours and details.
· Miracle Food Network- Offers groceries and fresh food for families in need. Find more information at miraclefoodnetwork.org.
For a full list of food banks, pantries, and meal programs across Whatcom County, visit the Whatcom County Food Guide: whatcomabc.org/food-guide. Their guide is available in various languages.
Comprehensive Community Resource Database
The Whatcom Resources website whatcomresources.org offers a searchable database of more than 200 organizations and 600+ services throughout Whatcom County. You can search by topic (for example, “food” or “Ferndale”) to find local programs, eligibility information, and direct links to each service.
Ferndale Family Resource Center
Our Ferndale Family Resource Center, located at Mountain View Learning Center (5780 Hendrickson Ave.), connects families to community partners and supports including food, housing, clothing, and more. If you need help connecting with any of the above services, please reach out to us. We’re here to help. Our phone number is (360) 383-9970.
Ferndale Public Schools Foundation
Additionally, our Ferndale Public Schools Foundation is also a school partner that can provide various supports. Please reach out to a trusted school staff member to get you connected or visit www.ferndaleschoolsfoundation.org/ for more info.
Please remember: asking for help is a sign of strength and care for your family. We want every household to feel supported, welcomed, and connected. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out, our community is stronger together.
Warmly,
Kristi Dominguez
